Pak court protects Indian Sikh woman from harassment after marriage.

A Lahore High Court ruling on November 18, 2025, ordered Pakistani police to stop harassing Sarabjeet Kaur, a 48-year-old Indian Sikh woman originally from Punjab’s Kapurthala district, who converted to Islam and married Nasir Hussain, a Pakistani man from Sheikhupura. Kaur arrived in Pakistan on November 4 as part of a Sikh pilgrimage for Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary but stayed behind, marrying Hussain on November 5 after meeting him on social media years ago. The court barred police from coercing them to end their marriage following illegal raids on their home on November 8. Kaur has approached the Indian mission to extend her visa and seek Pakistani citizenship. The case highlights complex cross-border social dynamics and the sensitivities around religious conversions and marriages, with implications for bilateral relations and community rights protections amidst ongoing India-Pakistan tensions.
