State-owned NTPC is set to appoint a consultant to identify overseas uranium mines, following a partnership with Uranium Corporation of India Ltd (UCIL). This initiative aims to secure uranium as a raw material for future nuclear projects, including a significant joint venture nuclear project in Rajasthan valued at approximately Rs 42,000 crore. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated the 4700 MW Mahi Banswara Rajasthan Atomic Power Project, underscoring the government’s commitment to enhancing India’s nuclear capabilities. NTPC aims to establish its own nuclear projects independently, collaborating with various technology providers and state governments, thereby reinforcing India’s energy security and enhancing its position in the global nuclear sector.
