Kuki-Zo groups and government sign peace pact for Manipur unity

Two Kuki-Zo groups have signed a Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement with the Indian government to uphold Manipur’s territorial integrity and relocate camps away from conflict areas, following ethnic violence since May 2023. This agreement aims for lasting peace, with commitments from both sides to cease violence and abide by Indian law. The Kuki-Zo Council has also reopened National Highway-02 for essential goods, enhancing mobility and commerce. With President’s rule in effect, the government is focused on restoring stability, indicating a proactive approach to resolving tensions and ensuring security in the region.
