ISRO to Launch AI-Enabled Half-Humanoid Vyommitra in December
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is set to launch Vyommitra, a half-humanoid robot, into space this December as a precursor to India’s inaugural human spaceflight mission, Gaganyaan. Vyommitra will simulate human presence, monitoring critical onboard conditions such as temperature, pressure, and humidity, while interacting with control systems to ensure mission readiness. Highlighting ISRO’s commitment to safety, the mission includes a robust Crew Escape System and a sophisticated parachute-based re-entry profile designed for a secure splashdown. This initiative not only underscores India’s advancements in indigenous space technology but also marks a significant leap towards future crewed space expeditions, reflecting the nation’s growing capabilities in the field of human space exploration.
