ISRO Successfully Completes Air Drop Test for Gaganyaan Mission

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has successfully conducted the first Integrated Air Drop Test (IADT-01) for the Gaganyaan human spaceflight mission, marking a significant milestone in the project. This test, carried out at Satish Dhawan Space Centre with collaboration from the Indian Air Force and other defense agencies, involved dropping a simulated Crew Module from a Chinook helicopter to validate the parachute-based deceleration system. By employing a series of parachutes to reduce the module’s terminal velocity to 8 m/s, the test demonstrated crucial safety measures for crewed missions. This achievement highlights India’s advancing capabilities in aerospace technology and its commitment to pioneering human space exploration.
