ISRO plans to triple satellites, enhancing India's space capabilities and global standing.

India’s ambition to expand its presence in space is set to accelerate, with ISRO Chief V. Narayanan announcing plans to triple the country’s satellites in orbit. This growth supports the broader vision of launching the Gaganyaan human spaceflight mission by 2027 and establishing a national space station by 2035, with significant advancements anticipated in navigation, communication, and earth observation capabilities. The upcoming NVS-02 satellite will enhance the NavIC navigation system, while collaborative efforts with NASA on the NISAR project further signify India’s rising profile in global space technology. These initiatives reflect a strategic push to not only bolster national infrastructure, such as railway monitoring systems, but also to elevate India’s status as a leading space power by 2040, thereby reinforcing its geopolitical standing.
