India's all-women crew to lead innovative Moon-Mars mission in Kutch.

India is set to conduct its first all-women Moon-Mars analogue mission in Kutch, led by retired Wing Commander Jaya Tare and including trained astronaut Group Captain Prashanth Balakrishnan Nair. Aaka Space will oversee this initiative, utilizing a state-of-the-art solar-powered habitat designed for long-duration space missions, which replicates conditions anticipated on Mars. The site near the Laiari river, featuring unique geological formations, will facilitate critical experiments, including the development of a 3D-printed radiation shield and studies on extreme resilience in tardigrades. This mission underscores India’s advancing capabilities in space habitat engineering and reinforces Gujarat’s potential as a hub for space exploration, aligning with national aspirations for future planetary colonization and international scientific collaboration.
