Indian Army Launches Tent Homestay in Garbyang to Boost Tourism
The Indian Army has inaugurated a tent-based homestay in Garbyang, Kumaon, under Operation Sadbhavna, aimed at promoting rural tourism and empowering local communities. Officially opened by Lieutenant General DG Misra on October 6, 2025, this initiative aligns with the Government of India’s Vibrant Villages Programme, offering visitors an authentic cultural experience while creating economic opportunities for villagers. Garbyang, known as the Gateway to revered pilgrimage routes, is set to become a hub for cultural and spiritual tourism. This project reflects the Indian Army’s commitment to enhancing border communities’ livelihoods through sustainable development and infrastructure initiatives, showcasing how military efforts can contribute to community welfare and regional tourism.
