India repatriates 465 nationals fleeing Myanmar cyber scam operations in two flights.
India is facilitating the repatriation of approximately 465 nationals who fled from Myanmar to Thailand after being involved in cyber scam operations. On Thursday, two Indian Air Force flights successfully brought back 270 individuals, including 26 women, from Mae Sot city, with a second batch scheduled for next Monday. These nationals had crossed into Thailand from Myawaddy, where a military raid targeted a notorious cybercrime center, KK Park, leading to a crackdown on online scams. The Indian Embassy in Bangkok is coordinating closely with Thai authorities to ensure the safe return of those detained for violating immigration laws after entering Thailand illegally. The Ministry of External Affairs has advised potential overseas workers to verify the credentials of foreign employers to avoid falling victim to human trafficking and scams. This incident underscores the ongoing challenges posed by organized crime in Southeast Asia, where cyber scams have become a significant issue, calling for vigilant international cooperation to protect vulnerable individuals and ensure responsible migration practices.
