India Launches ARKA GKT-1 SoC for Edge AI and Energy Solutions
On November 17, 2025, India marked a significant leap in semiconductor technology with the launch of ARKA GKT-1, the country’s first-generation intelligent-power platform-on-a-chip designed for edge AI and smart energy applications. Developed collaboratively by Azimuth AI and Cyient Semiconductors, ARKA GKT-1 integrates multi-core custom compute units, advanced analog sensing modules, memory, and intelligent power management into a single energy-efficient System-on-Chip (SoC). The chip is tailored to address critical needs in smart utilities, battery management, smart cities, industrial automation, and renewable energy sectors, aligning with India’s push for technological self-reliance and reduced dependence on imports. The unveiling ceremony in New Delhi was officiated by Union Minister for Electronics & IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, who emphasized the platform’s role in advancing India’s position in global semiconductor value chains. The chip’s intelligent power optimization and heterogeneous architecture make it ideal for energy-constrained environments and real-time AI processing at the edge, supporting India’s smart infrastructure ambitions and “Make in India” goals. Commercial development and partner-driven innovation plans are set for 2026.
