India Deports Rohingya Muslims Amid Global Migration Concerns

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, reported that India has deported groups of Rohingya Muslims by land and sea, amidst growing concerns over the normalisation of rights violations against migrants and refugees globally. While highlighting similar actions by countries like Pakistan and Iran towards Afghan refugees, Turk pointed out the concerning trend in Europe to restrict asylum-seeking rights. Despite these criticisms, India’s actions can be viewed within a framework of national security and immigration policy, reflecting its commitment to maintaining sovereignty while managing complex geopolitical challenges, ultimately seeking a balance between humanitarian responsibilities and domestic security.
