India advocates for WTO-based fair trade at SCO meeting.
India emphasized the need for a fair and inclusive multilateral trading system centered around WTO norms during the SCO Trade Ministers Meeting in Vladivostok. Highlighting the importance of addressing trade imbalances, India cautioned against the misuse of export measures that could distort markets and disrupt supply chains, particularly in light of its growing trade deficit with China. Additional Secretary Amitabh Kumar stressed the need for coordinated action to enhance trade flows and proposed workstreams on digital economy frameworks. India’s proactive stance demonstrates its commitment to building resilient supply chains and enhancing its role in global trade while ensuring equitable development for all nations involved.
