India Advocates Equity and Responsibility at UNFCCC CoP30 Summit
At the UNFCCC CoP30 Leaders Summit in Brazil, India’s Ambassador Dinesh Bhatia emphasized the principles of equity and Common but Differentiated Responsibilities in climate policy. He highlighted India’s significant achievements in emission reductions and renewable energy, noting a 36% decrease in emission intensity since 2005 and over 200 GW in installed renewable capacity. India joined Brazil’s Tropical Forests Forever Facility to foster South-South cooperation and called for developed nations to meet their climate finance commitments. The statement reinforced India’s commitment to multilateralism and the integrity of the Paris Agreement, urging genuine implementation of climate goals and equitable burden-sharing for effective global climate action.
