IIT-M's lab becomes first in India for 5G core network security testing.
IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation’s Telecom Security Testing Lab (TSTL) has become India’s first authorized facility by the Department of Telecommunications to conduct security testing of 5G core network functions, including critical components like the Access and Mobility Management Function. This certification, granted by the National Centre for Communication Security, is a significant milestone towards achieving technological self-reliance, reducing dependency on foreign testing, and enhancing national security. The lab’s role in fostering collaboration between academia and industry is vital for developing secure telecom solutions aligned with Indian standards. This development not only boosts India’s capabilities in creating robust telecom infrastructure but also underscores the importance of secure and resilient networks in the country’s digital future.
