ICG Leads 26,000 Volunteers in Nationwide Coastal Cleanup 2025
On September 20, 2025, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) marked International Coastal Cleanup Day with over 26,000 volunteers participating in nationwide beach cleaning initiatives, aligned with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and the Prime Minister’s Swachhta Hi Seva campaign. The event, which included NCC cadets, NSS members, and students, aimed to combat marine pollution and raise awareness about the importance of protecting coastal ecosystems. As the national coordinator since 2006, the ICG underscored India’s commitment to safeguarding its extensive 11,000 km coastline while promoting sustainable practices among citizens. This initiative is significant not only for environmental stewardship but also for fostering community involvement in preserving India’s natural heritage.
