ICG hosts 23rd National Maritime Search and Rescue meeting in Gandhinagar.

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) convened the 23rd National Maritime Search and Rescue (NMSAR) Board meeting on November 10, 2025, in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, aiming to strengthen India’s search and rescue (SAR) capabilities through enhanced inter-agency collaboration. The discussions focused on integrating advanced technology and modern communication systems to boost operational efficiency and maritime safety standards. Notably, the meeting saw the presentation of the National SAR awards for 2023-24, recognizing exemplary contributions to maritime safety. ICG Director General S. Paramesh, who presided over the meeting, emphasized the critical role of effective SAR operations as a cornerstone of India’s maritime safety framework. The engagement included representatives from key maritime and aviation sectors, such as the Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, and ISRO, reflecting a unified commitment to ensuring safer maritime operations, which is essential for protecting lives at sea and enhancing the overall security of India’s maritime domain.
