A black box from the crashed Pilatus PC-7 MK-II trainer aircraft was successfully recovered near Tiruporur after extensive search efforts by the Indian Air Force (IAF). The aircraft, which experienced a technical malfunction during a training sortie, was piloted by a trainee who executed an emergency ejection, landing safely. The recovery operation faced challenges due to difficult terrain and waterlogged conditions, but the timely response by IAF personnel was commendable. The retrieved black box will undergo a thorough examination to ascertain the sequence of events leading to the incident, which raises questions about the operational reliability of legacy training platforms crucial for India’s aircrew training syllabus.
