IAF airlifts 350 stranded pilgrims during Manimahesh Yatra crisis

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has successfully conducted rescue operations to airlift nearly 350 stranded pilgrims from the Manimahesh Yatra in Himachal Pradesh amid severe flooding and landslides, which have claimed 355 lives since the onset of the monsoon. The adverse weather conditions have disrupted transportation, closing over 1,200 roads and affecting vital infrastructure. Despite challenges, the IAF utilized Chinook and MI-17 helicopters to ensure safe evacuations, while the state government provided essential support services to stranded devotees. This operation underscores the critical role of India’s defense forces in humanitarian missions, reflecting their commitment to safeguarding lives in times of crisis.
