The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) held a Curtain Raiser for the Emerging Science, Technology & Innovation Conclave (ESTIC-2025) at its Defence Research and Development Laboratory in Hyderabad on October 17, 2025. DRDO Chairman Dr. Samir V Kamat emphasized the critical role of semiconductors in various sectors, including defence, highlighting India’s aim to rank among the top three nations in semiconductor manufacturing by 2036. He noted significant advancements in indigenous semiconductor technologies, such as 4-inch Silicon Carbide wafers and Gallium Nitride transistors. The conclave, themed “Viksit Bharat 2047,” is set to take place in New Delhi from November 3 to 5, 2025, signifying India’s commitment to sustainable innovation and technological advancement vital for national security and economic progress.
