DRDO appoints new directors to boost missile technology in Hyderabad.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has appointed two new directors to key laboratories and extended the tenure of its chairman as part of its leadership realignment. Ankathi Raju took charge as Director of the Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL) in Hyderabad from November 1, 2025. A distinguished scientist with over 30 years of experience, Raju has played a crucial role in India’s missile development programs, including Prithvi, Agni, and the Mission Shakti ballistic missile defence initiative. Dr. M. Raghavendra Rao became Director of the Advanced Systems Laboratory (ASL), Hyderabad, effective October 31, 2025. Dr. Rao is recognized for his work in advanced aerospace systems and missile technologies, contributing to ASL’s key projects in missile guidance and control. Meanwhile, DRDO Chairman Dr. Samir V. Kamat’s tenure has been extended until May 2026, ensuring continuity in the organization’s ongoing development efforts.
