Ahir community protests film title honoring Rezang La battle heroes.
The ongoing controversy surrounding Farhan Akhtar’s film “120 Bahadur,” inspired by the Battle of Rezang La during the 1962 India-China War, has led to significant protests from the Ahir community. Protesters are demanding the film’s title be changed to “120 Veer Ahir” to honor the unique contributions of the 120 Ahir soldiers of the 13th Kumaon Regiment who displayed exceptional bravery, with 114 of them martyred in battle. The Rezang La Pass served a crucial strategic role, and this incident underscores the importance of accurately representing historical sacrifices in national narratives. The renewed focus on Rezang La not only honors the memory of the martyrs but also reflects the ongoing significance of their courage in contemporary Indian society.
