Western Command Marks 79th Raising Day Celebrating Valor and Dedication
The Indian Army’s Western Command celebrated its 79th Raising Day in Chandigarh, marking its historical role since its establishment in 1947 amid the partition. Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar commended the Command’s dedication and bravery, highlighting their significant contributions during Operation Sindoor and recent flood relief efforts. The ceremony also honored fallen soldiers at the Veer Smriti War Memorial. With a legacy of valor reflected in numerous awards, including 11 Param Vir Chakras, the Command is committed to modernization and operational readiness to effectively address evolving threats along the Western Front, underscoring its pivotal role in safeguarding Indian sovereignty.
