Rear Admiral Alok Ananda takes command of Indian Navy's Eastern Fleet in Visakhapatnam.
In recent developments within the Indian Navy, Rear Admiral Alok Ananda has taken command of the Eastern Fleet, succeeding Rear Admiral Susheel Menon in a ceremony held in Visakhapatnam. Rear Admiral Ananda, a Navigation and Direction specialist commissioned in July 1993, boasts a wealth of operational experience, having commanded several significant vessels, including the Landing Ship INS Ghorpad and the frigate INS Satpura. His accolades include the Yudh Seva Medal for his contributions during Operation Rahat in Yemen, underscoring his capability in crisis situations. Additionally, Rear Admiral Shantanu Jha has assumed the role of Flag Officer Commanding Maharashtra Naval Area, succeeding Rear Admiral Anil Jaggi. Like Ananda, Jha is also a July 1993 commission and a specialist in Navigation and Direction, having served on six frontline warships and held numerous key positions, including Chief Staff Officer (Operations) at the Eastern Naval Command.
