Lieutenant General Avinash Das has taken charge as the Commandant of the Army Hospital Research & Referral (R&R) in New Delhi as of November 1, 2025, bringing nearly 40 years of experience in the Armed Forces Medical Services. An alumnus of the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, he has held key roles, including Senior Advisor at Base Hospital, Delhi Cantt, and Command Hospital, Lucknow. His past leadership at Command Hospital (Northern Command) resulted in the successful establishment of a state-of-the-art facility in Udhampur. Lt Gen Das aims to enhance the hospital’s standards, focusing on innovation, medical research, and education, which is crucial for improving healthcare delivery to the Armed Forces, thereby reinforcing the overall operational readiness of India’s military.
