IAF Loses Brave Tejas Pilot Wing Commander Namansh Syal at Dubai Air Show
Wing Commander Namansh Syal, a 34-year-old pilot of the indigenous Tejas fighter jet, tragically lost his life during an aerial display at the Dubai Air Show 2025 when the aircraft crashed shortly after take-off, resulting in a fireball. The incident marks a significant and somber moment for the Indian Air Force (IAF), being the first fatal accident of the Tejas during an international showcase. Hailing from Patiyalkar village in Himachal Pradesh, Wing Commander Syal is survived by his wife, also an IAF officer, their young daughter, and his parents, who are currently stationed in Tamil Nadu. The IAF expressed deep condolences and has initiated a court of inquiry to investigate the cause of the crash, which prompted immediate rescue operations at the venue.
