Government issues gazette honoring gallantry awardees for Operation Sindoor and other missions.
The Central Government issued a Gazette notification on October 21, 2025, honoring gallantry awardees from various operations, prominently including Operation Sindoor. The notification listed 127 gallantry awards and 40 distinguished service awards approved by President Droupadi Murmu. Among the honored personnel are Indian Air Force and Indian Army members recognized for their exceptional courage and leadership. Group Captain Animesh Patni of the Indian Air Force received the Vir Chakra for commanding a strategic Surface-to-Air Missile squadron during Operation Sindoor, notably for orchestrating a record-breaking 314-km surface-to-air missile strike that neutralized a high-value enemy target without losses. Colonel Koshank Lamba earned the Vir Chakra for flawlessly leading the first-ever air mobilization of a specialized equipment battery with secrecy, while Lieutenant Colonel Sushil Bisht was awarded for his decisive role in a counter-terrorism operation destroying enemy camps. The awards reflect extraordinary bravery and strategic success across air and ground operations, illustrating the valor of India’s armed forces in safeguarding national security and underscoring the government’s commitment to recognizing their sacrifices amidst ongoing geopolitical challenges. 290 personnel also received Mention-in-Despatches in the same notification.
