Defence Minister doubles financial aid for ex-Servicemen and families.

In a significant move to enhance the welfare of ex-Servicemen and their families, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has approved a 100% increase in financial assistance under various schemes managed by the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare through the Kendriya Sainik Board. The approved enhancements include a doubling of the penury and education grants and a tripling of the marriage grant, effective for applications submitted from November 1, 2025. This decision, which carries an annual financial implication of approximately Rs 257 crore funded through the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund (AFFDF), aims to strengthen the social security net for non-pensioner ex-Servicemen, widows, and dependents from lower-income groups. This initiative reaffirms the Indian government’s commitment to honoring the service and sacrifices of veterans, thereby elevating their quality of life and providing necessary support to aging ex-Servicemen and their families. By enhancing these financial aids, the government not only recognizes the contributions of those who have served in the armed forces but also addresses the pressing needs of vulnerable groups within this community, marking a crucial step in improving their overall welfare and ensuring their dignity in society.
