CRPF's Former Chief Appointed as Ajit Dovals Deputy
India has appointed former CRPF and ITBP Director General Anish Dayal Singh as a new Deputy National Security Adviser to work under NSA Ajit Doval, focusing on internal security portfolios including Jammu & Kashmir, Left-Wing Extremism, and Northeast insurgency, officials said on August 24, 2025. Singh, a 1988-batch IPS officer from the Manipur cadre who retired in December 2024 after nearly three decades in the Intelligence Bureau and subsequent stints leading ITBP and CRPF, brings counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism expertise to the National Security Council Secretariat. During his 2024 CRPF tenure, he oversaw over three dozen forward operating bases in Maoist zones, raised four new battalions, and drove a major battalion realignment, officials noted. He joins Additional NSA Rajinder Khanna and Deputy NSAs T.V. Ravichandran and Pawan Kapoor.
