Army intervenes for Mahavir Chakra Major Bhupinder Singh's statue reinstatement in Ludhiana

The Western Command of the Indian Army has intervened to support the demand for reinstating the statue of Major Bhupinder Singh, Maha Vir Chakra, at Bharat Nagar Chowk in Ludhiana, which was removed during road construction. The statue, a tribute to Major Singh’s bravery in the 1965 Indo-Pak war, was relocated to an undesired location, causing public outrage, exacerbated by the installation of a decorative bicycle at its original site. The Army’s involvement has revitalized the efforts of ex-servicemen and local activists, who feel their concerns are finally being addressed. With assurances from both the Deputy Commissioner and the Army, the community is hopeful for the statue’s return, symbolizing respect for military valor and community sentiment.
