US Analyst Calls China's HQ-9B Ineffective Against India's S-400, BrahMos

A recent assessment by U.S. analyst Brandon J. Weichert has severely criticized Pakistan’s use of China’s HQ-9B air defense system, describing it as a “Frankenstein’s Monster” that failed during Operation Sindoor against India’s S-400 and BrahMos missiles. The HQ-9B struggled with operational effectiveness, particularly against supersonic threats, and was rendered ineffective due to vulnerabilities in electronic warfare. This failure has prompted concerns within Pakistan’s defense establishment about the reliability of Chinese military technology, leading them to explore alternatives, including Turkey’s defense systems. The incident underscores India’s strategic advantage in air defense and reinforces the efficacy of its investments in advanced military systems, enhancing its regional deterrence posture.
