Security forces engage terrorists in Udhampur during ongoing operation.

An encounter between security forces and terrorists is currently underway in the Sohan area of Udhampur district, Jammu and Kashmir, following an intelligence-based operation initiated by the Indian Army and the J-K Police. On December 15, the operation intensified after a policeman was killed during earlier gunfire while searching for the terrorists. Reports indicate that one terrorist was injured, and the search operation has been resumed, with a joint team from the Special Operations Group (SOG), the army, and CRPF deploying sniffer dogs to track the suspects. The region has seen a history of terrorist activity, particularly from Pakistan-based groups like Jaish-e-Mohammad, and Udhampur’s geographical significance makes it a hotspot for infiltration. The dynamics of this confrontation reflect ongoing security challenges in the area and the steadfast commitment of Indian security forces to neutralize threats and maintain stability in Jammu and Kashmir.
