President Murmu showcases India's defense prowess with submarine sortie.

President Droupadi Murmu recently undertook significant sorties showcasing India’s defense capabilities, making her the first head of state to fly in two different Indian Air Force fighter aircraft, including the Rafale and Sukhoi-30 MKI, earlier this year. On a noteworthy occasion, she embarked on a dived sortie aboard the indigenous Kalvari-class submarine INS Vaghsheer at Karwar Naval Base, where she was briefed on the submarine’s operational role and capabilities in India’s maritime strategy. This historic moment marks only the second time an Indian President has participated in a submarine sortie, following former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Additionally, President Murmu is scheduled to embark on another submarine sortie on December 28, further highlighting the Indian Navy’s advancements and commitment to national security. These events underscore the growing focus on indigenous military capabilities and the importance of strong leadership in promoting the country’s defense preparedness.
