President Droupadi Murmu Highlights Self-Reliance at Indian Navy Day Spectacle
On December 4, Indian Navy Day celebrations unfolded at Shangumugham Beach in Thiruvananthapuram, showcasing the Indian Navy’s formidable maritime capabilities and commitment to indigenous development. The event, attended by President Droupadi Murmu, featured an impressive display of naval power, including nineteen major warships, a submarine, and 32 aircraft, highlighting the Navy’s operational readiness and multi-domain combat abilities. President Murmu emphasized the significance of self-reliance in bolstering national security and noted the Navy’s efforts in crafting complex platforms domestically, which contribute to employment and technological innovation. The operational demonstration illustrated various naval operations, including an anti-piracy simulation and the deployment of elite Marine Commandos (MARCOS), while reinforcing India’s maritime strength and aspirations under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. The updated Indian Maritime Doctrine was also released, further aligning naval strategies with national objectives, preparing the force to meet contemporary security challenges, and enhancing India’s role in regional and global maritime security frameworks.
