Northern Army Commander launches Sena Sarthi project in Leh to boost logistics in Siachen.

The Northern Army Commander, Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, inaugurated Project Sena Sarthi in Leh, a pioneering initiative that establishes underground fuel, oil, and lubricant storage facilities in the Kargil sector, developed in collaboration with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited. This project aims to double the fuel-holding capacity, significantly enhancing the logistics infrastructure to support troops operating in the challenging high-altitude conditions of Ladakh. The strategic importance of such advancements is underscored by the extreme temperatures and hostile terrain that complicate logistics and fuel storage for the Indian Army. The facility addresses the critical need for adequate fuel supplies, particularly during winter months when access to these remote areas can be severely limited. The project reflects a broader trend of enhancing military preparedness in high-altitude areas, emphasizing the Indian Army’s commitment to ensuring operational readiness amidst the logistical challenges posed by extreme environmental conditions.
