Navy Chief: Maritime Strategy Crucial for India's Development by 2047
In a recent address, Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi emphasized the pivotal role of maritime strategy in India’s ambition to become a developed nation by 2047, highlighting the Navy’s commitment to safeguarding the country’s maritime interests. During an operational demonstration in Thiruvananthapuram, attended by President Droupadi Murmu, Admiral Tripathi reaffirmed the Navy’s readiness to respond to any challenges, underscoring a proactive rather than alarmist approach towards maritime developments, including monitoring activities in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) and beyond. He dismissed concerns over alleged delays in missile tests due to Chinese surveillance activities as speculative, while also discussing advancements in naval capabilities, including the approval of 60 Naval Utility Helicopters from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and expedited timelines for four large Landing Platform Docks. This event, coinciding with Navy Day celebrations on December 4, showcased the Navy’s operational readiness and integration, reinforcing its position as a critical security partner in the IOR and reflecting India’s growing maritime prowess within the framework of the MAHASAGAR vision.
