The Indian Army’s elite Para Special Forces have begun inducting jet pack suits to bolster their operational capabilities for cross-border missions, following successful trials. These turbine-based mobility platforms enhance speed, stealth, and flexibility, allowing rapid infiltration and exfiltration across challenging terrains, such as the Himalayas. While currently imported, plans are in place to develop indigenous versions as part of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. Despite challenges like limited flight duration and noise, the integration of jet packs positions the Para SF among a select group of global elite forces, significantly enhancing India’s tactical edge in counter-terrorism and covert operations.
