Indian Navy conducts first submarine rescue exercise in South China Sea.

The Indian Navy successfully completed its maiden submarine intervention and rescue exercise in the South China Sea, utilizing the indigenously designed Diving Support Vessel, INS Nistar. This exercise, part of Exercise Pacific Reach 2025, showcased India’s commitment to military diplomacy and power projection by enhancing interoperability with over 40 participating nations. Commodore Anil Jai Singh noted the significance of providing timely rescue capabilities as a demonstration of India’s soft power. The exercise’s timing is particularly relevant amidst ongoing tensions in the region, where China’s assertive claims over maritime territories have drawn counterclaims from neighboring nations, including the Philippines. This development underscores India’s strategic role in regional security and its dedication to collaborative defense efforts.
