Indian Forces Rescue Pregnant Woman Amid Sri Lanka Flood Crisis
India’s National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) successfully evacuated a nine-month pregnant woman in Sri Lanka amid intense rescue operations following Cyclone Ditwah, which has caused catastrophic flooding and landslides, resulting in at least 390 fatalities. Under Operation Sagar Bandhu, India is providing humanitarian assistance by deploying two rapidly mobilized field hospitals and delivering essential supplies to nearly 800 stranded individuals. The Indian Air Force has air-dropped over 5.5 tonnes of relief materials, while the Navy has aided in transporting supplies to severely impacted areas. This initiative underscores India’s commitment to regional solidarity and humanitarian support in times of crisis, enhancing its geopolitical influence in South Asia.
