Indian Army Opens 91-km Hanle-Chumar Road in Ladakh for Public

The Indian Army has announced the opening of the 91-kilometre Hanle-Chumar road in Ladakh, enhancing strategic connectivity along the border. Constructed by Project Himank of the Border Roads Organisation, this route spans extreme altitudes of 14,500 to 17,200 feet and will significantly boost operational readiness for the Armed Forces. Additionally, it promises to enhance local connectivity and promote tourism by linking attractions such as the Hanle Observatory and Tso Moriri Lake. This development not only underscores India’s commitment to strengthening its infrastructure in sensitive border areas but also supports socio-economic growth in Ladakh, a region that is crucial for national security and local development.
