Indian Army Leads Successful Flood Rescue Operations in Uttarakhand
Uttarakashi district in Uttarakhand faced devastating flash floods on August 6, which resulted in significant destruction and left many residents stranded. In response, a comprehensive rescue operation was initiated, mobilizing the Indian Army’s Ibex Brigade, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and local volunteers. These teams have successfully rescued over 566 individuals, including 128 additional rescues reported by Friday noon. The army’s efforts included constructing a bridge over the Bhagirathi River to expedite the evacuation process and facilitate the delivery of relief to affected communities. This operation highlights the Indian defense forces’ preparedness and commitment to humanitarian assistance during natural disasters, showcasing their capability to respond swiftly and effectively in times of crisis.
