Indian Army Aids Flood Relief Efforts in Northern States

The Indian Army has been actively conducting humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations in flood-affected regions of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir since August 26, executing 82 missions that resulted in the evacuation of over 6,000 individuals and medical assistance for more than 13,000 people. Utilizing Army and Air Force assets, including helicopters for over 300 hours of sorties, essential supplies were delivered via air drops. The Army has established a Flood Control and Water Level Monitoring Cell to proactively manage water levels and restore critical infrastructure, emphasizing its commitment to operational readiness and community safety during crises, reflecting India’s resilience and unity in the face of disasters.
