India, Maldives launch EKUVERIN-14 to enhance military cooperation.

The 14th edition of the Joint Military Exercise EKUVERIN between the Indian Army and the Maldives National Defence Force commenced on December 2, 2025, aiming to enhance operational synergy in counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations. Conducted alternately since 2009, this exercise underscores India’s Neighbourhood First Policy and its dedication to building enduring defense partnerships. With 45 personnel from India’s Southern Command participating alongside an equal number from the MNDF, the two-week exercise focuses on sharing best practices and tactical drills in diverse terrains, reflecting the growing defense cooperation between the nations. This collaboration is significant for regional peace and stability in the Indian Ocean, showcasing a mutual commitment to addressing common security challenges.
