India-Maldives joint military exercise enhances counter-terrorism capabilities in diverse terrains.
The Indian Army and the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) have commenced the 14th edition of the joint military exercise Ekuverin in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, from December 2 to 15. This exercise focuses on Counter-Insurgency and Counter-Terrorism operations across jungle, semi-urban, and coastal terrains, underlining the strategic partnership between India and Maldives in the Indian Ocean Region. With a contingent of 45 personnel from each nation, the exercise aims to enhance interoperability through niche technology and best practices, thereby deepening defense cooperation, camaraderie, and mutual trust. This initiative reflects a shared commitment to regional peace and security, reinforcing India’s role as a stabilizing force in neighboring countries.
