India Enhances Chushul and Anini ALGs for Border Defense

In a strategic initiative to bolster its defense capabilities along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China, the Indian Ministry of Defence has approved the revival of two advanced landing grounds (ALGs) in Chushul, Ladakh, and Anini, Arunachal Pradesh. These high-altitude sites, crucial for Indian Air Force operations, will see significant upgrades including runway resurfacing and enhanced facilities for both manned and unmanned aircraft. With historical significance stemming from the 1962 India-China War, the Chushul ALG stands at 14,000 feet, while Anini will support operations in a biodiverse and challenging environment. Set for operational readiness by mid-2026, this development emphasizes India’s commitment to improving its border infrastructure amid ongoing tensions, highlighting the importance of rapid response capabilities in the region.
