IAF Boosts ALCM Arsenal to Target PAF Airbases in First Strike

The Indian Air Force (IAF) is accelerating its air-launched cruise missile (ALCM) arsenal following the successful Operation Sindoor, which highlighted vulnerabilities in the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) infrastructure. The IAF aims to procure over 100 long-range munitions to effectively neutralize PAF bases within the first 12 hours of conflict, targeting crucial assets such as runways and hardened shelters. Key developments include the expedited Indigenous Technology Cruise Missile (ITCM) program and enhancements to BrahMos variants. This strategy underscores the IAF’s commitment to achieving first-strike capability, ensuring deterrence against potential adversary retaliation, and enhancing India’s defense posture in a volatile region. The emphasis on self-reliance in defense technologies reflects India’s broader strategic objectives in maintaining regional security.
