Defence Ministry fast-tracks new theatre commands post-Operation Sindoor for enhanced military integration.
The Indian Defence Ministry is expediting the establishment of new theatre commands to enhance military integration and joint operational capabilities, following insights gained from Operation Sindoor. Under the guidance of Chief of Defence Staff Gen Anil Chauhan, the Department of Military Affairs has laid the groundwork for three commands in Thiruvananthapuram, Jaipur, and Lucknow, which will address maritime, western, and northern border threats, respectively. Increased collaboration between the armed services and the DMA aims to finalize proposals for cabinet approval soon. This strategic initiative underscores the Indian military’s commitment to modernizing its operations and responding effectively to regional security challenges, particularly in relation to China and Pakistan.
