CDS stresses military's need to anticipate and prepare for future conflicts.

Chief of Defence Staff Gen Anil Chauhan emphasized the existential necessity for the Indian military to visualize, anticipate, and prepare for future conflicts during his address at the Chanakya Defence Dialogue 2025. He warned that the evolving nature of warfare, coupled with the weakening stability in the nuclear domain and the erosion of global geopolitical norms, presents significant challenges to national security. The CDS underscored the importance of understanding both oneself and the enemy in warfare, suggesting that preventing the enemy from gaining self-awareness may be crucial in future battles. The dialogue, attended by military leaders and defense experts, aims to refine India’s strategic posture amidst a rapidly changing global landscape.
