The Indian Army is enhancing grassroots security measures in Doda district, Jammu and Kashmir, by training approximately 150 Village Defence Guards (VDGs) amidst ongoing counter-terrorist operations in the Chenab valley. The training includes handling automatic rifles, self-defence tactics, and bunker construction, aimed at empowering local volunteers to act as the first line of defense against potential terrorist threats. Recent upgrades in weaponry, including the provision of self-loading rifles, have bolstered the confidence of VDG members, who express gratitude for this initiative.
