US Intensifies Operations, Seizes Second Oil Tanker Near Venezuela.

The United States has intensified its maritime operations by seizing a second oil tanker off the coast of Venezuela, a move aimed at disrupting the country’s crude exports that allegedly finance narco-terrorism and sustain Nicolás Maduro’s regime. This action, described as a “consented boarding,” follows a previous seizure and is part of a broader strategy to enforce sanctions and impose a “blockade” on sanctioned oil tankers. As Venezuelan oil exports dwindle—plummeting production since 2019—regional stability is at risk, with potential repercussions for global energy markets, particularly for countries like India that rely on Venezuelan heavy oil. The situation highlights the escalating geopolitical tensions, particularly involving U.S. military presence and Venezuela’s diminishing oil revenues, which once accounted for 95% of its exports.
