US increases pressure on Venezuela with military buildup in Caribbean.

On 22 November 2025, U.S. officials announced a significant escalation of pressure on Venezuela, designating the Cartel de los Soles as a foreign terrorist organization while deploying an extensive military presence in the Caribbean, including the USS Gerald R. Ford carrier strike group. This marks the largest U.S. military buildup in the region since the Cuban missile crisis, raising concerns about potential military actions against the Maduro regime. Venezuela condemned this intervention, citing risks of regional destabilization. For India, these developments highlight the volatility of U.S. intervention in resource-rich areas and underscore the need for diversified energy supplies and a commitment to international law, reinforcing the importance of safeguarding economic interests amid potential geopolitical shifts in the Americas.
